A report he couldn't edit.
Now his MSP assessment writes itself.
A Melbourne-based Microsoft 365 MSP, in business since 2004, had two decades of advisory expertise trapped in a single report template. It went out as a locked HTML attachment the MSP's own director could not edit. We built a 12-page advisory-led website and two self-drafting assessment tools, both gated by human review before anything reaches a client.
01 - The Problem
Deep expertise. A report nobody else could touch.
This Melbourne-based Microsoft 365 MSP has been in business since 2004. Two decades of client relationships and a genuinely deep bench of technical and advisory expertise, the kind smaller MSPs spend years trying to build.
None of that showed up in the deliverable clients actually saw. Every risk assessment went out as the same report template. It was an HTML attachment that opened read-only in Outlook and Word, the exact file his own clients received. The director could not edit it himself, let alone hand it off to someone else on the team to update. Every report meant starting from a blank page and writing it by hand.
Deep advisory expertise was trapped behind a manual, one-person report-writing process, and it was never going to scale past the director's own hours in the day.
02 - Our Approach
A website for the whole client journey, then two tools that draft the report.
We started with the front door: a 12-page advisory-led website, live since April 2026, built around a three-stage client journey, assessment first, then scoped projects, then managed services. Every visitor gets a clear next step instead of a generic contact form.
- A self-drafting risk assessment. The first tool is a 30-question guided assessment that walks a prospective client through their environment, then self-drafts the branded advisory report: a risk register, the top 10 risks ranked, an executive summary and a 30/60/90 day action plan. It lands at roughly 20 pages as a print-ready PDF, the same standard of deliverable the director used to write from scratch, and every report is reviewed and approved by the consultant before it goes out.
- A second tool for AI governance. As Microsoft 365 clients started asking about rolling out Copilot, we built a second tool: a 3-tier AI governance assessment (foundational, managed, ready) that produces a maturity verdict and a recommended pathway, so the MSP has a structured answer instead of a shrug.
- Privacy by design. Both tools run entirely in the browser. No client data is stored server-side, a requirement from day one.
- A human still signs off on everything. Nothing reaches a client unedited. The consultant reviews, adjusts and approves every report before it goes out, so the tool speeds up the work without putting an unreviewed AI output in front of a client.
We also wired both tools into the MSP's CRM, so a completed assessment becomes a tracked, followed-up lead instead of a PDF that disappears into an inbox.
03 - The Results
The pipeline is queued. The first client already cleared the bar.
Client feedback rounds during the build shipped in days, not weeks, which mattered because this website and these tools are the MSP's own sales asset.
More than a dozen of the MSP's existing clients are already queued for assessments from the start of the financial year, before the tools had even been fully rolled out.
The first client run through both assessments, an accounting firm, came out at the top governance tier: ready. That result opened the door to a strategic AI governance engagement, the kind of upsell that used to depend entirely on the director noticing the opportunity and having the hours to chase it.
04 - See It For Your Business
The same pattern, built for your business.
If your business runs on expertise that only lives in one person's head, or in a report template nobody else can edit, this is the pattern: turn what you know into a tool a client can run themselves, with a human still signing off on every result. See how we build agents like this on the AI agents page.
If you're an MSP, this is the pattern we run across the industry: productized assessment tools with a human review gate, plus the lead follow-up, missed-call response and review collection that turn a finished assessment into a booked call. See the full approach on the AI agents for MSPs page.
